Mushroom season is officially here and public health officials have recently issued warnings for the highly toxic mushroom Amanita Phalloides. Also know as the Deathcap, this mushroom can be highly toxic or even fatal to pets after small ingestions.
Initial symptoms can include reduced appetite, drooling and vomiting which may be delayed. Animals can then go on to develop severe liver injury which can be fatal.
There has been confirmed sightings of the Deathcap mushroom in the ACT, VIC, SA and TAS, however it is possible that it may grow in other states too.
